First National Bank of Southern Africa (FNB), started with an EMV migration early in 2004. From the start of the programme the strategy of FNB was to develop the entire chip card management system on a legacy mainframe system and only purchase what is absolutely required. Early in the program it became clear that the only way to ensure the success of the complete programme was to acquire or develop software test tools to assist with the Visa chip profile development and later MasterCard.
"Over the past 10 years FNB has made a vast investment in consultants, software companies and EMV Test tools. In 2013 FNB partnered with EFTlab to expand the range of EMV Test Tools with an unique set of software components to test EMV cryptography and assist our developers and consultants with the day to day testing. The past year, the return on investment was reached countless times. Common tasks, which took a number of days or weeks to complete was reduced to a matter of minutes and the tools provide one of the best training platforms ever. Going forward FNB, as one of the leading Innovative Banks in the world, is excited about the ongoing development of EFTlab products and the new releases of the software packages and other products in the pipeline. The suite of EFTlabs products are business tools we simply cannot afford to go without."
